Our Services

Anesthesia

At the veterinary clinic Health-Vet surgical interventions are performed under inhalation anesthesia.

If your pet is undergoing a clinical diagnostic investigation or treatment (surgery), some type of anesthesia (sedation and pain relief) may be needed. The method of anesthesia used will be according to the individual needs of each patient.

At Health-Vet before performing anaesthesia and new surgeries we will perform preoperative blood tests (biochemistry, hematology, gas and electrolytes, urine tests), clinical examination, cardiological examinations (ecg and cardiac ultrasound if needed).

“The role of clinical examination in veterinary anesthesia is to provide individualized perioperative care for each animal. It involves a risk assessment, stabilization of the pacinet, appropriate selection of drugs and strict monitoring during anesthesia and recovery. Also postoperatively, fluid therapy should be used continuously and pain therapy managed during the animal's hospitalization period. This approach makes anesthesia and surgery safe, painless, and axiomatic.”

We use a wide variety of medications and different analgesic techniques, such as epidural analgesia and local and regional anesthetic blocks, to provide optimal pain relief for your pet.

We use a wide range of anesthetic monitoring equipment, adapted to each patient, such as: electrocardiography, pulse oximeter, capnography, inhalation gas monitoring, body temperature, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring.

Cardiology

The Cardiology Service investigates and provides medical and surgical care to patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Pets with heart conditions may display a number of clinical signs, such as shortness of breath, fainting, exercise intolerance, and heart murmurs. If your veterinarian suspects heart disease, he or she may recommend that your pet be seen by a specialist for diagnosis.

If your pet is suspected of suffering from heart disease, respiratory or circulatory disease, then it is time to have a cadiological examination. Yes this can be a worrying diagnosis, but heart and lung diseases can be mild and serious. The most important thing is to do a thorough investigation but also a correct diagnosis.

Some examples of heart conditions: heart murmur, irregular heart rhythm, or pets showing symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, intolerance to exercise, or episodes of collapse or fainting. Sometimes sedation is required for radiographic investigation.

For breeds prone to heart disease, we also offer a pre-breeding assessment service. We offer a wide range of cardiology services, including:

  • interpretation of chest x-rays and electrocardiograms (ECG)
  • Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) with spectral and color flux Doppler: cutting-edge imaging as part of normal heart disease research, along with radiographic X-rays and ECG recording
  • drainage of pericardial effusions, sometimes followed by surgical removal of the pericardium
  • surgical treatment of certain congenital heart defects, such as PDA (patent ductus arteriosus)

Surgery

Surgical treatment of parts of the body other than the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

Pets can be sent directly to the surgery by the veterinarian who performs the consultation. After an initial consultation, pets are usually sent for treatment, although in some cases investigations may be scheduled for an appointment at a later date.

Light tissue surgery (soft tissues) is a varied discipline and includes most surgical procedures that are not covered by orthopedic surgery. These include ear, nose and throat, cardiothoracic, hepatic, gastrointestinal, urogenital, reconstructive and oncological operations of the skin.

After any surgical procedure, your pet will remain here hospitalized in the clinic until our doctors are fully satisfied with his recovery.

Dermatology

Dermatology refers to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, ear and paw of the foot. Allergies are an important cause of dermatological problems in dogs and cats, and we have special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease.

We treat assections such as: allergic dermatitis, chronic ear disease (including otitis media), resistance to bacterial infections, autoimmune and immune-mediated diseases, keratinization disorders, alopecia (hair loss), endocrinopathies (hormonal abnormalities), neoplastic and paraneoplastic skin diseases.

If your pet is a patient with dermatological diseases, it is important to remember that the skin is not the only organ affected by the disease. Therefore, other examinations may be performed that would involve internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, or even neurology examinations.

Skin and ear diseases are easily accessible, so our dermatologist can examine the skin and take surface samples you take on the day of your consultation. In many cases, a presumptive (probable) diagnosis can be made during the consultation, but for a concrete diagnosis it is possible to make further investigations.

Since most skin diseases are of a chronic nature, re-examinations are frequent. Dermatological examinations are usually performed by appointment and do not require hospitalization of your pet.

Specific investigations carried out in our clinic: allergic skin tests (intradermal tests), skin biopsies, ear examination, including video-otoscopy, investigations of middle ear diseases, including sampling.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the use of physical therapy to promote movement and functioning in pets that are at risk of reduced mobility. This often follows accidents or various diseases, but may be related to factors such as age and obesity.

Physiotherapy uses physical approaches to promote, maintain, and restore function in dogs and cats. Our service includes a wide range of treatment techniques.

Physiotherapy can help and complement traditional treatment strategies in many areas of veterinary medicine and surgery, including:

Neurology: Assisting the return to function in medically managed and postoperative patients for neurosurgery patients

Medicine: maintaining function during acute medical illnesses

Orthopedics: supporting and accelerating the return of limb function following surgery for developmental and degenerative problems and traumatic injuries

Critical care: management of the recruited patient, providing preventive treatment to protect against problems with the musculoskeletal or respiratory system

Analgesia: management of acute and chronic pain.

Care for elderly patients, for example those with chronic osteoarthritis

Our physiotherapy service is progressive, patient-centered and oriented towards continuous excellence. We are committed to continuously developing knowledge and skills

Imaging

Radiology and Ultrasound

Imaging diagnostics is the creation of visual representations of the interior of a body. This service uses a variety of sophisticated equipment such as digital radiography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) to produce images interpreted by a radiologist.

Ultrasound is a safe and painless procedure that allows sound waves to be reflected by the internal structures of the body, creating “echoes” that are transformed into vivid images. This technique is used to visualize muscles, tendons, eyes, blood vessels, and many internal abdominal or chest organs.

Despite the development of more sophisticated ways, radiography still plays a key role in diagnostic imaging. Our new CR system allows instant display of images allowing us to see x-rays in the operating room as well.

During the diagnostic process, your pet may require one or more X-rays for a better overview.

The benefits of radiology are primarily in the detection of fractures but also in the case of organ ruptures (bladder, spleen, kidneys, intestinal mass) but also in diaphragmatic hernias or in the case of objects (toys, sticks, balls, toys) accidentally swallowed by your pet.

Another benefit is for orthopedic surgeries (the orthopedic doctor can check the fracture repair within a few minutes).

For investigations such as computer tomograph CT or magnetic resonance MRI, we collaborate with the faculties of Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca partners.

Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Service is concerned with diagnosing complex medical diseases of the body's internal systems, such as those affecting the heart, lungs, stomach, liver, kidneys, blood, and hormones.

If your pet suffers from clinical problems that are not obvious (surgical, dermatological), they can be treated by our internal medicine doctors. These conditions include vomiting, diarrhea, general malaise, weight loss or weight gain, anemia, and fever.

Once we diagnose what disease/condition your pet is suffering from, we can discuss treatment options and adopt a treatment plan tailored to your pet's individual needs.

Typically, after an initial clinical consultation, a patient will undergo further investigations such as blood tests, x-rays, ultrasound, or endoscopy. After tests, if immediate treatment is not required, the animal can go home to wait for results.

Neurology

The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service investigates and treats diseases of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and nerve/muscle junctions. Advances in technology have led to the ability of experienced veterinarians to diagnose and treat an increasing number of these neurological conditions.

The diagnostic process in neurological diseases may include a combination of blood tests, imaging (MRI or CT, myelography), sampling of cerebrospinal fluid and nerve or muscle biopsy. Once we have an established diagnosis, your veterinarian will talk to you about treatment options, which could include drug therapy and/or surgery.

Conditions such as epileptiform seizures, schipats, paraplegia (paralysis) can all be diagnosed in the clinic and we will try to remedy them.

Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology involves the investigation and treatment of disorders, diseases and injuries of the eye and/or surrounding structures. We offer a complete eye care service for dogs and cats.

As a pet owner, you will know that eye disease is common in small animals. Our doctors deal with cataracts, corneal ulcers, entropion/ectropion (eyelid disorders), dry eyes, inflammation of the eye, glaucoma, tumors and retinal diseases. We want to see joy for both the pet and the owner when the sight of a small animal is recovered or restored.

Cataract removal is one of the most common reasons why animals come to us. Cataracts are common in dogs and can be inherited, due to old age, or develop as a consequence of diseases such as diabetes mellitus.

During our initial consultation we will examine the eye and discuss with you a possible cataract operation by phacoemulsification. Not all cases are suitable for surgery, or you may not want to have surgery. If cataract surgery is indicated, it can usually be performed within a day (the animal remains hospitalized in the clinic for at least a day). If we have cataracts present in both eyes, we can operate both eyes with the same anesthesia if desired. After removing the cataract, we will usually place an intraocular (artificial) lens inside the eye so that optimal vision is restored.

We perform numerous types of extraocular and intraocular surgeries, including: cataract surgery — phacoemulsification surgery, entropion/ectropion and facelift surgery.

Orthopedics

The Orthopedics Service carries out the diagnosis and treatment of injury or disease of the musculoskeletal system, that is, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.

Commonly treated cases include all forms of skiing, repair of traumatic fractures (mostly road accidents), and correction of limb deformities.

If you have come to us for an orthopedic problem, know that our medical orthopedist will make a prescribed diagnosis for your pet. That's why we always offer a thorough consultation. Within the clinics we can perform conventional radiographs, ultrasound and for investigations such as MRI, CT arthroscopy, we collaborate with partner clinics to provide exceptional service for each patient.

Before starting any treatment, your orthopedic veterinarian will advise you on your pet's condition, causes, treatment options, prognosis, and costs that may arise along the way.

Oncology

The Oncology service includes the diagnosis, treatment and management of cancer in dogs and cats.

This condition occurs when cells reproduce at an abnormally fast rate and form masses, known as tumors.

There are many forms of cancer, but in general, dogs are affected by more types than cats. Leukemia is the most common type of cancer in cats, and lymphoma and cancer of the mammary glands are the most common in dogs.

If your pet has been diagnosed with cancer, rest assured that we are here to help you. We talk to owners about the illness of their pets and try to guide them to make a good choice at that time.

We want to ensure a good quality of life for every cancer patient and that it is maintained or improved as a result of his treatment, which is always aimed at minimizing pain and restoring health and function where possible. In the unfortunate event that side effects or complications develop, we will see the patient immediately and do our best to reduce pain and discomfort. We understand the anxiety that arises when a pet is diagnosed with cancer and strive to support the owners throughout the course of the disease and its treatment.

We in veterinary oncology want to ensure that every animal we see maintains the best quality of life during treatment. In many cases, combinations of medical and surgical treatment can have very good results on the quality of life. Diagnosis and treatment of cancer requires the input of other knowledge such as soft tissue surgery and others such as postoperative care.
